NISDA is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.

NISDA History

In the early 1970's Kathy Kelm and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) developed programs on Nantucket Island in interdisciplinary education which linked the study of art to science, culture and the environment. The Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) grew out of these initial programs.

NISDA Mission

NISDA is dedicated to sharing the spirit and creativity that the Arts bring into our lives. Our Seaview Farm Arts Community offers a place to be inspired, refreshed, to create, learn… in the context of Arts and Educational experiences that provide intriguing ideas and interdisciplinary studio art techniques that embrace the global, historical and contemporary.

NISDA Studios

NISDA's programs are held in the Nantucket land and seascape and at its studio facilities at Sea View Farms, a converted dairy barn in Wauwinet. Classroom and studio spaces at the NISDA Barn include two 2D/3D studios; a small textile studio; photo studio with two black and white darkrooms; library; silo gallery; and an outdoor open air studio.
